Carly Fields has been involved in the media industry for the past ten years starting her writing and editing career for daily maritime newspaper Lloyd's List at the turn of the millennium. Her involvement in the maritime industry goes back further and is founded on a 1st class Bachelor of Science Maritime Studies degree from Liverpool John Moores University, awarded in 1998. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
Throughout this period, Carly has written for a number of leading news sources, including Reuters, Lloyd's Register, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Lloyd's Shipping Economist, Lloyd's Cruise International, International Bulk Journal, Port Strategy, The Seafarer, Lloyd's Ship Manager and International Freighting Weekly. She continues to write and edit for a number of these on a freelance basis.
Viewed by many as the natural progression of a career in journalism, Carly has more recently become involved in the promotion of public relations for high profile companies, through an independent London-based agency.
In tandem with writing and editing, Carly has also delivered lectures on shipping business for Lloyd's Maritime Academy, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and Maritime Education and Training Ltd, helping students to further themselves in the maritime industry. Meanwhile, a life-long passion for photography has developed into a business strand, under which Carly has undertaken a number of commissions for well-respected organisations and has been highly commended in recent photography competitions.
Web design is another area that Carly has developed and over the past four years she has hard-coded seven websites for companies offering services as diverse as printer spares, graphic design and furniture-making and hairdressing.
